<p><strong>Above all, my two sons are my greatest treasures. </strong>Recent college grads, they're now forging their own lives and adventures, and I couldn't be prouder of the men they've become. Both are also graduates of Chaminade High School in Mineola, forever loyal to their alma mater and the lifelong friends they made there.</p><p>I became a dog walker to help pay for my sons' tuition because I have always loved animals, a passion I inherited from my mother and my grandfather, who grew up on a farm in County Cork. He was always kind to strays in our Queens neighborhood and often left food out for whatever animal needed it. That deep respect for animals lives in me, and I see it in my sons now too. Our pets have always been part of the family. Our cat Hazel, a street cat I adopted in Singapore, came home to Long Island to live a long life.&nbsp;</p><p>These days our house is ruled by our golden retriever Kerry, equally smart and goofy, and our cat Beatrice, who purrs like a teddy bear. I also love gardening, English-style from my years in London, and the remote Adirondacks — limited wifi, no TV, a simple cabin — swimming in crisp lakes and s'mores by the fire with the people I love.</p><p>I'm also a lifelong Mets fan, riding the 7 train to Shea with my mom and family since I was a little girl, and a Knicks fan through it all.</p><p>Overall, I feel lucky and grateful for it all. &nbsp;</p>

My mother died 20 years ago after a long battle with cancer, and I still miss her every day.</p><p><strong>My beloved grandparents arrived from Ireland to New York as teenagers with little money, met here in New York City, and built a successful life together</strong> — a family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren now spread across our great country. That's only possible here. They had a strong work ethic and gave me a foundation of love, being true to yourself, and honest with others. I am so grateful for that.</p><p>My grandmother recognized my yearning for adventure early. At fifteen, she joked that I'd already traveled the world in my mind before I ever left home. She was right — I was probably the only teenager I knew who wanted to visit Moscow, and I did, while it was still behind the Iron Curtain. I went on to work around the globe as a TV journalist for almost two decades, covering historic events, summits of world leaders, wars, and more. I've also traveled to many countries for pleasure and to explore. Some of my favorites are France, Ireland (Counties Kerry and Cork), Cuba, India, and Israel. I'm also a history buff and enjoy visiting battlefields, from Gettysburg to Normandy to China Beach.</p><p><strong>Living abroad and reporting from places torn apart by war taught me what a miracle America is.</strong> I never thought of us that way before. We're a melting pot of ideas and backgrounds who still find a way to feel like one nation. I worry that unity is slipping away, and I want to help bring it back — for my sons, and for every generation after them. I want to use my knowledge, passion for politics, and leadership skills to solve problems now instead of passing them on to our children.</p><p><strong>I love Long Island </strong>— our beaches, our strong communities, our proximity to NYC, and how safe it feels here to raise a family. It's why, after everywhere I've lived, this is where I put down roots.</p>

<h2>For more than twenty years, I have proudly called Long Island home.</h2><h4>My husband and I raised our family here, and I am deeply grateful to live in a community filled with hardworking, honest people who care about their neighbors and care about the future.</h4><p>Garden City, and all of District 19, is a special place. We have strong communities, excellent schools, dedicated first responders, and families who work incredibly hard to build better lives for their children. That experience, combined with two decades of watching leaders succeed and fail up close in my career overseas, shaped a core belief I carry into this race: the greatest leaders are not the loudest voices in the room — they are the people who can bring others together to actually solve problems.</p><p><strong>My greatest education, though, came from spending nearly twenty years as an international journalist and foreign correspondent.</strong> I lived throughout Europe and Asia. I reported from war zones. I covered world leaders, economic crises, international summits, and some of the most important events of our generation. There is no place with our spirit, our freedom, our innovation, or our belief that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. But loving your country also means being willing to improve it. When I returned home after years overseas, I saw challenges too many Americans have simply accepted as normal. They shouldn't be.</p><p><strong>My commitment to healthcare reform is deeply personal. </strong>My husband's work as a network cameraman in conflict zones left him with severe PTSD and lasting health challenges, and for years our family experienced firsthand how difficult it is to navigate America's healthcare and mental health systems. I also saw, living and working abroad, how other healthcare systems give families peace of mind and dignity — without the constant fear that one medical emergency could financially devastate them. Healthcare is not a political issue. Technology should support learning, not replace it. I also believe in real opportunity for young people who choose a path other than a four-year degree — more apprenticeships, more technical education, more pathways into the skilled trades that Long Island's economy needs.</p><p><strong>I strongly support public safety and our law enforcement professionals. </strong>Families deserve safe neighborhoods, businesses deserve safe communities, and children deserve safe schools.</p><p><strong>Most importantly, I believe our nation must find its way back to unity. </strong>For 16 years, this district has been represented by a career politician more focused on protecting his seat, his power, and his perks than delivering results back home. Our district deserves a representative who fights every day to bring resources, investment, and opportunity home to Long Island families.</p><p>This is where being a Democrat matters in a very concrete way: Democrats hold the majority in the State Assembly. <strong>That means a Democratic representative can sit at the table where funding decisions are actually made and bring real dollars back to AD-19 </strong>— for our schools, our roads, our infrastructure, our seniors. A Republican in this seat, no matter how long he's been there, simply cannot do that from the minority. My opponent has represented this district for 16 years without that leverage, and he never will have it. I can, starting on day one.</p><p><strong>But my loyalty will never be to a political party</strong> — it will always be to the people of AD-19: Democrats, Republicans, independents, every family, every community, represented equally and respectfully. Because at the end of the day, we all want safer communities, better schools, affordable living, quality healthcare, and a brighter future for our children.</p><h4>I am not a career politician. I am a mother. I am a journalist. I am a fighter. And I am running because I believe our best days are still ahead — if we have the courage to think bigger, act boldly, and work together.</h4><p>I love Long Island. I love New York. I love America.</p><p>Anyone who knows me can attest that I am a fighter who will never give up on what I feel passionate about — we need to get things done urgently, and I can do it.
